PFD - Policy Forum on Development

The main objective of the Policy Forum on Development (PFD) is to improve the effectiveness of EU development cooperation. The PFD brings together civil society organisations, local authorities, professional and business associations as well as representatives of EU institutions and Member States to discuss relevant issues and implementation of EU development cooperation. The PFD offers its members a space for open and transparent dialogue, recognizing everyone’s specific expertise.

The Policy Forum on Development pursues three key objectives

Dialogue on the crosscutting issues that civil society organisations, local authorities professional and business associations, face in their work as development actors.

Policy dialogue with exchange of information and experiences, and consultation on key European Union development policies and initiatives.

Drafting key recommendations to share with representatives of EU institutions and other key development stakeholders.

The Policy Forum on Development has 75 members

The members’ constituencies, networks, alliances and platforms cover 175 countries in Africa, Asia and the Pacific, Latin America and the Caribbean, the European Neighbourhood Region, and the European Union.

The forum participants also include:

representatives of EU Member States
representatives of the European Commission, European Parliament, European External Action Service, European Economic and Social Committee, European Committee of the Regions, and the European Investment Bank
